CHARIO CONSTELLATION PEGASUS
More than ever
The Pegasus model is a three-way floorstanding speaker with the tweeter and a woofer of 160 mm placed on the front of the speaker, while another 160 mm woofer is placed at the bottom of the speaker, and works as a subwoofer. The location of all drivers is already defined in the planning stages, and this enables accurate tuning of the relationship between the speaker and the listening-room. The subwoofer reduces the work stress of the woofer, dealing with the first eighth of the audio spectrum, extending the frequency response down to 45 Hz. Listening to a Pegasus, thanks to the great dynamic capability, provides a natural exciting feeling.
The ability to clearly and fully the complex musical texture precisely in the low frequencies leads our perceptual system to an area of serenity and relaxation, minimizing the listening fatigue, and giving a result of very high level and maximum perceptibility.
The size of the stage will be exciting, width and depth are to be sensational, as well as the detail that will bring you realistically at the time of the original play, as if you were present at the concert that you are listening. The model Pegasus is equipped by T38 tweeter waveguide and two woofers of 160 mm Paper Compound. In the lower part is positioned the bass reflex with a diameter of 75mm and with a length of 185mm.
The emission angle of the tweeter is 60°, meanwhile the one the woofer that works as a subwoofer up to 170Hz is omnidirectional (360°). The angle of emission of the woofer placed on the front at 170 Hz, which is the point of intersection with the subwoofer, preserves the omnidirectionality, decreasing in proportion to the intersection with the tweeter, in this point the angle comply with the tweeter. The connectors on the rear of the speaker are gold-plated with a protective cage of transparent plastic and are isolated by two Orings rubber material and a resin plate which allows the total isolation.
Near Reflective Surface
The principle NRS exploits the proximity of the supporting surface and the structure of the speaker to increase the performance of the subwoofer. The frequencies emitted by the subwoofer using this principle are able to double its efficiency by halving the displacement of its membrane by lowering the distortion. The system applied to Cygnus model is devoted entirely to reproduce frequencies between 50 and 170 Hz. Thanks to the NRS principle a double sound pressure (gain of 3 dB) is achieved for the same distortion.
This loudspeaker is designed to offer excellent performances even in normal domestic environments without acoustic care.The size of the ideal listening environment should not be less than 9 square meters and not more than 28 square meters. The minimum power amplification suggested to fully exploit the characteristics of the speaker is 30 W / 4 Ω.
Constellation series overview
The Constellation project, like any Chario project, born from a specific primary need, to provide a speaker who is able to reproduce a musical event in a coherent, credible and involving way. Coherent means that the speaker should in no way give interpretation to the input signal that it receives, must accomplish a task far more difficult, that is to reproduce as faithfully as possible so natural and free from any touch-up, the original event. Credible means that all the components that contribute to the registration, depth of the image, width of the stage, positioning of instruments inside the stage should have the right balance, which must respect the character that there were in the original event. Emotionally engaging means that the speaker must ensure sufficient extent and dynamics to reproduce the event by donating all the nuances that the same event wanted to transfer during its performance.
To be faithful to the project we have to study different aspects of science: The electroacoustic is the basic research that allows us to realize the components through the study of real behavior and application of the fundamental electroacoustic parameters. Psychoacoustics allows us to understand how our perceptual system (ears, eyes, brain, smell etc ) perceives the components of reproduction and how it decode them.
The acoustic environment allows us to understand how the environment affects drastically the reproduction, then how the energy is transferred into the listening room and what the listener receives. The proper interaction of the results of scientific research in these fields allow us to provide a natural sound and respectful of the main component to be considered: the man.
The need to project and realize a speaker that is able to control and not to be highly influenced by the environment in reproduction is born analyzing the specific needs of the listeners, which for the majority of cases combine the listening room with living spaces that do not allow specific furnishing to improve the acoustics. The ease of positioning the Constellation speakers makes, the cohabitation of passion for music and the aesthetic needs of a living space, a fluent and lasting marriage. Obviously a domestic environment, dedicated and suitably calibrated by the acoustic point of view, allows further optimize the performance of the speaker itself. This applied technology further allows the user an easier evaluation of the performance of the speaker even in environments different from what eventually will be its effective one, that is the difference that you will have in assessing a proper environment in terms of noise will be very close to that which will be obtained in a domestic environment.

Its mass and stiffness guarantees the lowest level achievable using materials made from fibers of wood. The side panels are made of solid wood and are applied to the sides of the central cabinet. This particular structure guarantees an absolute top in terms of stiffness and damping of vibrations that the cabinet moves on its own structure.

The work, the choice of materials, finishes and controls are entirely manufactured in Italy in our manufacturing facilities.
All the cabinets of our speakers are made in our woodworks. The production process is handmade. Each model of speaker is realized with a specific cabinet studied as an integral part of the acoustic drawing.
Each cabinet contributes to the global pattern of energy emission together with the design of all other parts, from the drivers to the crossovers, from the wrap of the speaker system/environment to the report of the perceptive system. The basic structures are made of HDF (High Density Fiberboard) which is a compound with a high density whose vibrations are compensated by the lateral sides realized with real solid wood, walnut or cherry, or from real wood veneer that is applied outside and inside the panel. The shape and the physical characteristics of the cabinet also assumes considerable importance because regularize the frequency response by acting on a part of the audio spectrum eliminating the diffractions. The result is a sound free of interpretation.
All models reflect a well defined philosophy. Each of them is composed of a cabinet designed with a particular agglomeration called HDF, and side panels made of solid wood. The characteristic of the HDF is an incredible rigidity and a high mass. The process by which this agglomerate is realized involves the pressing of wood fibers and resin to create a paste thick and dry.
Using this type of material helps to eliminate vibrations that the same cabinet transfer to its own structure. The panels made of solid wood, positioned at the sides of the speaker besides to have an aesthetic functionality, have 2 clear tasks: the first is to further stiffen the structure of the cabinet. The second is to stabilize even more the frequency response of the speaker through the smoothing of the edges of the cabinet.
