Zero point

Zero marks the starting point of the Zingali loudspeaker range - and of everything for that matter. However, Zingali's Zero series is anything but the typical "entry-level" product, as it incorporates a full-blown Omniray implementation along with premium crossover/cabinet materials, supreme craftmanship and the same maker's devotion sensed as one comes near a flagship model. What sets it as the entry point is the fact that it's designed to fit a significantly more home-oriented audio/cinema application, where not everything has to evolve around the audio setup.

Zero loss

In essence, you get everything that Zingali is known for; playfulness, highest crest dynamics, shockingly
natural tones, true-to-life dispersion of the projected soundscape, looks that's hard to beat... The exotic, the eccentric, all those attributes that grow in harmonic fusion as we are reaching for the upper (no) limit of the Zingali range may be what you are missing; or are you?

Omniray technology: A revolutionary and extraordinarily effective project

When you look at a "Zingali Acoustics" label on a loudspeaker, you are looking at more than a simple logo. You're observing a project philosophy. Listen to him, you’ll convince yourself that there are no competitors.

This philosophy began when in 1986, Giuseppe Zingali creates a company that has as its aim the production of Hi-fi systems and Studio Monitors, using only professional hi-quality components, installed in cabinet of valuable wood and strong visual impact.

After years of research and development, in 1995, a groundbreaking wooden horn called "OMNIRAY" was set up. The State of the art for the reproduction of mid-high frequencies: the products which use the Omniray technology open a new window into the world of musical reproduction.

The sound image and the timbre of all musical instruments are reproduced in a correct and realistic way, able to reconstruct to perfection all the orchestral backdrop, with extraordinary dynamics and a balance of all instruments never heard with regular loudspeakers systems.

Especially when they’re listened indoors and in small rooms, the traditional Horn systems are often recognizable by a strongly "nasal" sound, combined with a highly unidirectional dispersion, that makes lose many sound details in off-axis listening. These features partially justify the generic preference for conventional transducers.

But Horn systems offer also many advantages compared with conventional transducers, such as efficiency and dynamics, which make them the ideal ones for the reproduction of sound in combination with tube amplifiers, even low-powered, the audiophiles’ favourite ones.

For this reason, Zingali has almost exclusively directed its energies into developing a horn system able to reproduce mid-high frequencies without compromises.

This aim was achieved with the creation of "Omniray Technology", an exclusive patent of Zingali Acoustics.

Technical features of the Omniray system

The main technical details that made it possible to achieve these results are:

The circular shape of the horn, which allows a 360 degrees sound radiation with an angle of dispersion of up to 140 degrees.

The depth of the horn of only 13 cm, which along with its sole expansion profile, allows a complete control of the sound output, with a range of frequencies from 500 to 20,000 Hz +/-1.5 dB.

Until recently, Zingali has built high fidelity systems, Control systems and Studio Monitor using the JBL Professional components for woofers and drivers. Then, thanks to the cooperation and joint research with two Italian producers of speakers, it started to offer a new line of loudspeakers with exclusive components Zingali branded and specifically designed to extol the "Omniray Technology".

This development has enabled us to contain production costs at the same time improving sound quality in our loudspeakers, increasing the acoustic details so to reproduce sound sceneries without parallel in the world.

Also the efficiency of the single loudspeaker has grown by around 3 dB values, allowing the handling even at very low power amplifiers while maintaining a perfect sound system in a rather extensive environments.

On the other hand, we are as usual personally responsible of the construction of the wooden "Omniray" horn (obtained from the Toulipier wood, the American yellow poplar, rough machined and finished by hand in our factory), of the filters, and cabinet, with our unique system of bass-reflex connection called "Multi Slit".

It is obvious that we will continue to produce loudspeakers paying attention to the care of the detail that distinguishes the best "Made in Italy", as we have done since the beginning of our adventure.

A proper and fascinating sound reproduction

The original Omniray horn shape, which echoes the curvature of the woofer in its last part, is studied in order to allow the sound waves emission outside of the loudspeakers with the utmost consistency and depth, until the crossover frequency of the filter.

When you listen to a Omniray stereo system provided with woofer and Horn drivers, one gets the impression that the sound comes from a single sound source rather than from two separate loudspeakers. The sound scene widens and shrinks basing on the presence of the instruments played, just like it happens while listening to live music. It is incorrect, in fact, to listen to the sound of a soloist violin from two loudspeakers because the source is practically punctiform, well defined in spatial location.

Everything changes if you listen to a large Orchestra with a prominent sound front.

In these two cases, the Omniray technology makes the difference.

Having subjected the loudspeakers to extensive listening sessions and several tests, the conclusion come from all sound engineers called to witness those tests was unequivocally to affirm that Omniray technology is truly revolutionary and far better than the one adopted by great and noble manufacturers who adopt conventional speakers in their loudspeakers, regardless of the purchase cost.

Zingali Acoustics was founded in 1986 in a small acoustic handcrafted workshop, where Giuseppe Zingali, a master of sound and electro-acoustics, understands the power of a professional audio market in those years dominated by the most famous American names in the field. But things change in a hurry.

The early prototypes of high-efficiency Monitor moves quickly to highly sophisticated products, which in the intentions of the designer must be the best in the world for sound quality and affordable in the purchase price.

The legendary 8800 Series, consisting of 4 models still sought-after by true fans of music, opens the doors of a large international market and the close cooperation started in 1988 with Bruce Scrogin, the unforgettable President of Harman Int. and JBL from 1985 to 1992, does the rest.

Zingali Loudspeaker, the only one in the world to have the honour to have in its logo the JBL brand for the specific use of the units produced in the U.S., finds admirers in the four corners of the Earth and consolidates an uncompromising product image, built with the painstaking care of the Italian wood craftsmen, combined with an acoustic perfection that manages to amaze the most hardened audiophile.

Meanwhile moved to Aprilia, over the years the production head office becomes insufficient to cover the demands of the market and in 2007 it has been transferred again to its current production and storage location, still in Aprilia but in the industrial area, well connected to Rome, to the airports and commercial airports for sea-freight.

The production machines were renewed and two SCM Ergon C.N.C. machines were bought, among the best in the world, to cut and forge the wood, fully automated and accurate to tenths of a millimeter.

The varnishing department, a flagship of Zingali Acoustic, it is equipped with three large ovens to lacquer the cabinets and front panels, to guarantee absolute perfection in the aesthetic treatment of the various types of wood chosen by customers, for custom finishes too. The expensive versions "Black Piano" and "White Piano" were born, with seven coats of lacquer and a Steinway effect, greatly appreciated in Oriental markets.

Then a big auditorium of 500 sqm is set up to test and tune professional audio systems, with a Bruel & Kjaer instruments to get quality certifications. Another area of 400 sqm lodges also three showrooms: an area dedicated exclusively to Home Cinema and different single-speaker listening rooms. We must not therefore confuse Zingali Acoustics with the competitors. In each unit that leaves the factory there is a study of materials and a passion for the sound that makes it unique, unmistakable and precious, destined to last over time.
